Blues for Sean Costello
9.13.14 | Rosa's Lounge, Chicago
It was a star-studded evening of stellar entertainment at the Blues for Sean Costello benefit show at Rosa's Lounge on Sept. 13, 2014. The show raised money for the Sean Costello Memorial Fund for Bipolar Research and celebrated the life and music of a blues musician who left us way too soon. Costello died from an accidental overdose in 2008, just one day shy of his 29th birthday. The immensely talented guitarist/songwriter released five critically acclaimed CDs before his death. A previously unreleased CD, In the Magic Shop, comes out Oct. 2 on Vizztone. The studio album was recorded in 2005 in New York.
Tom Holland & the Shuffle Kings played host band for the night and Billy Boy Arnold was the marquee star of the show. Adding to the fun, Arnold was also celebrating his birthday that night. Other musicians who donated their time and talents included Felix Reyes, Johnny Iguana, Nico Wayne Toussaint, Dave Herrero, Richard Rosenblatt and Long Tall Deb. Writer/record producer Dick Shurman played emcee for the evening.
